I'm back to work again. Mostly. It's getting too cold for me to be hanging out outside with Miss Cookie for long, which means my nice warm studio is once again becoming my cacoon.

Lately I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos on the business of illustration and how to make money from it. I say my intent is to learn animation and how to draw for it, but my first love is illustration. Why can't I do both?

Ok, that's not exactly the truth. My first first love was stories. But I don't actually enjoy writing that much--I would rather edit what's already there than write from nothing. Drawing, on the other hand, is the thing that makes me wiggle in my seat and wakes up my synapses with those little zaps of electricity. I have absolutely no idea what I actually want to do with my life but I know I want to draw. And illustration requires drawing.

The main issue is that "illustration" is such a broad category. Illustrate what?

I don't know yet, but I'm just going to keep drawing and see where it leads me.
